I got stuck behind a guy with a handlebar mustache driving an automatic Miata with a weird rack thing on the back doing 15 under all the way home.
*Insert joke about Miatas being slow*
I think the truck was scaring him, because he'd speed off from stop signs then slow down and I'd catch up. He just kept doing that over and over again.
This is exactly how the car looked, minus the tan interior!

People put luggage racks on cars on purpose? WTH

I'd say yes. Which I don't understand AT ALL.

And the worst part is that they never use it!

My grandmother had one of those put on her car. I hate it.

They're anger inducing.

Right? I have been eyeing a Fox body mustang convertible for a while but will have to figure out how to get all those holes plugged from the factory luggage rack.

Agreed. This is an appropriate car to have a luggage rack:
and this (or anything post-1939) is not:

I like to make unpractical cars as daily drivers... A luggage rack is necessary when you go roadtrip with a car with pretty much no trunk.

That's understandable, but it doesn't mean you have to keep it on 24/7. They have to make removable racks.

Not sure it's doable... A rack usually has to be screwed on the car... Not about this one pictured there... But it has to leave a big mark on the paint though, pretty sure about that.
